Benjamin Weeks Trail

Trail Name: Benjamin Weeks Trail
Gilford, NH
Trail Description: Ken MacGray

This lightly-traveled trail, blazed in purple, provides a quieter approach to the Mt. Rowe ridgeline than the more popular Mt. Rowe Trail (blue-blazed). It begins at a junction where the Mt. Rowe Trail bears northeast, 0.3 mi. east of Gilford Elementary School. Benjamin Weeks Trail heads sharply south from that junction, running mostly level, then dips to cross a small brook at 0.3 mi. It climbs again, turns sharply left (arrow), descends again to cross the same brook at 0.5 mi., then ascends a short steep pitch, turning right at the top (arrow). Mt. Rowe Trail enters from the left at 0.7 mi. and the two trails merge, blazed in both purple and blue, for 0.1 mi. At 0.8 mi. Benjamin Weeks Trail bears right off Mt. Rowe Trail, and begins a long steady climb up through a ravine. It turns left onto a woods road known as Old Weeks Rd. at 1.5 mi., swings right at a junction with North Spur Trail on the left at 1.6 mi., and continues up gradually to end at Ridge Trail at 1.9 mi.

Cumulative from Mt. Rowe Trail trailhead (900 ft.) to:
North Spur Trail (1,490 ft.) 1.6 mi. (2.6 km), elevation gain 390 ft., 1:00
Ridge Trail (1,630 ft.) 1.9 mi. (3.05 km), elevation gain 530 ft. 1:10
